About Kauma Farm
Kauma Farm is a farm in rural Wisconsin run by a family, driven by a love of the land and organic farming. We have a straightforward philosophy: "sunshine, fresh air, and nutrient dense soil make joyful animals and lively food" Our farm doesn't mess around, as we meet Wisconsin's reputation as the "land of milk and honey." We have lush, verdant pastures of clover, alfalfa, and basswood which surrounding beekeepers croo about for yielding some of the best quality honey. All the things on our property – from our free-ranging chickens to our busy bee hives - flourish in the situations offered by nature. As one Wisconsin farm describes it, "this attention means healthy food that feeds you well," and we are delighted to put that vibrancy on your table.
Our Products
Kauma Farm produces two simple products: farm-fresh eggs and raw honey with no additaves in it. We permit our hens to roam cage-free outside on pasture and provide them with a healthy, non-GMO vegetable feed. We collect their eggs every morning, certain that there's no flavor quite like that of authentic farm-fresh eggs. Our honey is treated in the same loving way: we hand extract it and jar it without heat or filtering so that it stays just as the bees made it. Research confirms raw honey straight from the hive is "rich in antioxidants and vitamins," and professionals in the trade are quick to remind us that genuinely free-range hens "can run around the barn and have outdoor room" – exactly as ours truly do.
- Free-Range, Non-GMO Eggs: Our hens spend their days grazing on grasses and bugs, and are fed a 100%-vegetarian, non-GMO diet. The result is delicious, fresh eggs that capture the good life we give our animals. (As one source explains, "Non-GMO eggs come from chickens fed a diet that's free from genetically modified organisms", which perfectly captures how we treat our flock.)
- Pure Raw Honey: We pick our honey by hand and put it into bottles unfiltered and unheated. This preserves all the natural pollen, propolis, enzymes and antioxidants naturally present. Indeed, Wisconsin beekeepers take great pride in labeling honey like ours as "100% natural, unfiltered raw honey, made locally" – just what you get from our hives. Every spoonful is enhanced by the rich, full-bodied flavors of wildflowers from around here.
Our Values
Our farm is dedicated to sustainability, integrity, and community. This is what we believe in:
-
Sustainable Farming: We use environmentally sound practices – field rotation, compost, and minimizing chemical inputs – to build for generations to come. Scientific studies have shown that sustainably managed farms can "preserve and restore critical habitats" and improve soil and water quality
In essence, our practices preserve the environment while we grow your food.
- Local Community and Trust: We're dedicated to investing in our neighbors and customers. Small farms like ours "support local economies and provide fresh produce", so there's more of your dollar returning here at home. We also build personal relationships: through dealing with customers at markets or the farm, we build strong trust. In fact, speaking an sitting down with farmers "builds a good sense of trust and appreciation", and that open, honest relationship is one that we treasure deeply.
Sources: Our approach is backed by experts. For example, AAA notes that non-GMO eggs come from chickens on GMO-free feed, and health research highlights the nutrient benefits of raw honey. Wisconsin farmers observe that this region’s pastures produce exceptionally flavorful honey, and organizations emphasize that sustainable practices protect soil and water. We’ve utilized these best practices into every part of our farm so you can trust the quality of what we offer.
